PitchVision goes to the bowling alley this week, and we also chat about Irfan Pathan's actual bowling (not the ten pin variety).

And the mailbag is stuffed, as usually with your questions. This time it's all about a new leg spin variation and a crunch decision about when to decide to cricket as your career. We get a deep insight into Burner's journey along the way.

Hi,
I just want to answer some of the questions you asked and clarify the mystery delivery. You said on the episode that this would be a great LBW ball but I'm actually a left arm wrist spinner. My usual line is (bowling from around the wickets) the ball drifting from about off stump to far outside off and then turning sharply into the right hander. Now the mystery ball does the same, but it goes straight after pitching and finds the outside edge or a bottom edge (it stays low) I have gotten 2 LBW's to left handers with this ball (almost identical to Warne's slider dismisslas) but I use it most effectively against right handers who get completely bamboozled by it. They leave it and it hits the stumps, a few LBW's, lots of slip catches and I make them look like kindergarten batsmen because no one, not even proffesionals can pick it. And I don't think they ever will because my action is identical to my leg breaks action and I am actually bowling a leg break, just with a diferent angle of turn. I think it may well be the best variation I have ever bowled. Using it and my square turning leg break, a leg break that bounces more and dips, and the topspinner, googly, zooter, off spinner, and another mystery ball I think no batsman will be able to handle that delivery if I use it effectively as a variation. (or maybe even as a stock ball)
